the question of the day yesterday was, "did you make your own birthday cake?"...
...and the answer is, "you know it, sister!"
yes, I would LOVE to find a pile of cupcakes or a tall and sparkly cake left on my doorstep by the birthday fairy,
but the reality is that it ain't gonna happen.
I really enjoy making my own birthday cake, not because I'm a total control freak who thinks only I can make it right, but because I don't HAVE to make it right! I don't have to follow the rules, I can do whatever I want.... throw caution to the wind, dive in with total abandon... even make it (gasp!) ugly!
the long and short of it is that I can have FUN with it because it's just for me... who cares if someone else thinks it tastes really wrong, who cares if it's lopsided and oozing weird purple stuff... it's all MINE!
so, I present to you my big, beautiful birthday cake...
this Cuatro Leches Cake has everything I want in a cake right now... it's fluffy and moist, loaded with lots of cream,
coconut milk, rum, caramelized pineapple with a spicy kick,
more coconut...
and, most importantly, pink disco dust!!
yep, I'm a glitter girl.
in fact, it's so good, it's going on the menu so you can have it too... consider it my birthday gift to you!
